Plants in Space

Recently astronauts were able to grow a flower in space. This is the first step to growing food on Mars and in space in general.  They did grow lettuce awhile back but now that they are learning to grow things in space would they be able to grow fresh produce on long space missions? Another advantage is possibly making natural oxygen in space crafts. This may help break up the mononanity of eating pre packaged food.

Mars One

“Mars One is a not for profit foundation with the goal of establishing a permanent human settlement on Mars. To prepare for this settlement the first unmanned mission is scheduled to depart in 2020.
