It appears Scotland will remain part of the United Kingdom for the time being. The count was 55% to 45% out of the 86% percent of the population that voted. Having 86% percent of the population turning out to vote makes Scotland, the highest rate of turn out for voting of democracies in the world. There was some speculation as to whether this would have a chain reaction to other countries in the United Kingdom. This could be a possibility but probably not any time soon since many of those countries in the United Kingdom have become interdependent. There would be issues they would need to consider before breaking away like establishing a government, currency, military and managing an economy.
