Storms and Sunsets: Lake Wabaunsee, Ks

Lake Wabaunsee, Ks is a small man made lake 30 minutes south of Wamego, Ks and 30 minutes east of Manhattan, Ks. It is located on the eastern edge of the Flint Hills. The lake itself was built as German POW project during World War 2. In subsequent years it has become a vacation spot for people tat live in the surrounding communities like Topeka, Manhattan etc.. Many families that have homes out there are the weekend warriors or retired. There are a number of people that love out there year round but the numbers are in the decrease. Only one bed and breakfast is on the lake. The next closest is probably in Alma, Ks which is 15 minutes north. It is beitiful a farm country and well worth a weekend trip if you are in the area.
